Avicii dominates the iTunes Festival stage in Camden

Avicii stunned fans at the Roundhouse in Camden last night as he took to the stage for the iTunes Festival.

The Swedish DJ and producer - who's real name is Tim Bergling - got the crowds moving to some of his well known hits, including number one song Wake Me Up.

Avicii this week premiered his new song with Adam Lambert, Lay Me Down.

Avicii Blows Roof Off The Roundhouse At iTunes Fest
REVIEW: Super Swede 'True'-ly takes Camden to another level...

15:12, Saturday, 14 September 2013

Last night (September 13) Camden’s Roundhouse was transformed into a superclub as Avicii spun a 90-minute iTunes Festival set of uplifting dance and devastating breakdowns.

Feeling: After the most intense warm up set from Henrik B the hour he had to amp up the Roundhouse definitely worked as, by the time super Swede Tim Berg ling took to the decks, the floor was well and truly filled.

The Look: Donning his trademark backwards baseball cap and T-shirt, Avicii was set behind an LED fronted DJ plinth as screens emblazoned with trippy visuals spanned like wings around the stage.

As is custom these days with mainroom DJ sets, smoke jets and fireworks launched on the huge drops, which never fails to raise spirits even higher.

Tunes: As with any DJ set it’s all about the tunes, and Avicii isn’t short of a banger. The two-time UK chart topper began his set with I Could Be The One before sandwiching in Disclosure’s smash White Noise and the DubVision remix of ICBTO.

Bergling dropped tracks from his forthcoming album True including Shame On Me, Long Road To Hell, Hey Brother and latest single You Make Me which, judging by the crowd’s sing along reaction is already shaping up to be another smash for the Swedish DJ.

Bootlegs came thick and fast including his David Guetta collab Sunshine layered with the vocals of Florence Welch’s Spectrum plus a version of The Clash’s London Calling.

Not only were there Avicii productions but crowd-pleasing spins of Armin van Buuren, Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash, Duck Sauce and Bingo Players tracks plus brand new material from the likes of Sub Focus.

Of course the final push included Silhouettes, Fade Into Darkness, the euphoric Seek Bromance and the track, which propelled Tim into the commercial space, his Etta James-sampling Levels.

Ending with the crowd-elating Wake Me Up and his Nile Rodgers and Adam Lambert hook up Lay Me Down, the 24-year-old had the masses in the palm of his hand.

Sweat Factor: With elbowroom at a premium on the dancefloor I believe the Latin for what happened last night is “Perspirus Maximus”.

Summary: To paraphrase Etta James, good feelings were had by all. Avicii smashed it in every sense of the word but in short, it…went…off!

Translation of Greek article : Review: Avicii – True (Part of the whole article , I focused at Lay Me Down and what he's thinking about his new album in general)

No need to say something about Avicii in the year 2013. His career has reached its peak and I don't think there is even someone who doesn't know Tim Bergling , or even a song of his .

Hits and the conquest of the single charts are fine, but a whole CD is something different. «True» is the move Avicii needed to prove that he isn't just a hitmaker who was lucky to come out during «Tomorrowland» era , but a complete artist with a beginning, middle and end .
«True» has exactly these elements at a time where integrated CDs from the big Djs come out rarely and where compilation discs and collections have become the norm , a full album takes on a special significance to EDM and generally in the electronic scene.

The commercial success of this album, is certain. Either it will be embraced by the hardcore-fans, or maybe call him out because he worked with people like Adam Lambert ( clarifying that he says this in a way that Adam little has to do with the EDM scene) , this has nothing to do with the quality of the tracks. «Lay Me Down» is an incredibly positive and fun song and proves why you should give as a composer opportunities and partnerships who carry some risk (Nile Rodgers with Lambert).

Songs that stood out: «Wake Me Up», «Dear Boy», «Lay Me Down», «Hope There's Someone»

iHeart Radio festival returns to Vegas
Grace Bascos, USATODAY| Sept. 13, 2013

If you're wondering why you can't find any pop music acts to see in your neck of the wood on September 20 and 21, it's because they're all playing the iHeart Radio music festival in Las Vegas. The Clear Channel event always brings the biggest names to MGM Grand Garden Arena every year, but this time they managed to go even bigger. Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Elton John headline the show, along with stars such as Tim McGraw, Bruno Mars, Tiësto, Muse, Maroon 5 and a special performance by legendary Queen + Adam Lambert.

This year also introduces the iHeart Radio Music Festival Village, which jam packs even more acts into the daytime. On Saturday afternoon two more stages pop up at The Lot across the street from Luxor, and as anyone who's ever gone to a major music festival in Vegas knows – sometimes The Lot is where the real party is. The satellite show features a dozen more acts such as Pete Tong, Jason Derulo, The Wanted, Avril Lavigne and a special performance by Ne-Yo.

The 15-acre area also includes fan zones, games and interactive experiences from iHeart Radio sponsors. The Festival Village also happens to be where Miley Cyrus will perform, and if the VMAs were any indication, she'll be one you won't want to miss.

Hosted by media darling Ryan Seacrest, the concert event will be broadcast live on some 850 Clear Channel stations nationwide. Unfortunately the MGM Grand Garden Arena shows are sold out, but you still have chances to win if you tune into your local Clear Channel Station. Tickets to the Saturday performances at the iHeart Radio Music Festival Village are still available.

Listen: Avicii Recruits Adam Lambert & Nile Rodgers for "Lay Me Down "

The funk-EDM hybrid is off the Swedish DJ-producer's debut album '#TRUE,' out September 17

We were already super excited for the September 17 release of Avicii 's debut LP #TRUE, but the latest track to leak from the record, the funk-EDM hybrid "Lay Me Down," is making the wait even harder—yeah, it's that good.

Centered around the Swedish DJ's fist-pumping EDM production, "Lay Me Down" features disco diva sass and wailing from Adam Lambert  while Chic  co-founder Nile Rodgers lays down ultra-crisp funk guitar licks. It's reminiscent of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," but with a higher BPM and slick studio production; you can boogie down to this track at both Studio 54 and Ultra Music Fest

Avicii excited to work with Adam Lambert who is set to appear on Glee?
September 14th, 2013 by Martin Lamont

Avicii Adam Lambert Nile Rodgers

Last night Avicii took to the stage at the iTunes Festival and premiered his a new track featuring former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert.

The Swedish DJ was on stage at the Roundhouse in London for around 85 minutes before finishing up with ‘Lay Me Down’ featuring Adam Lambert and Nile Rodgers.

Avicii joined forces with the pair for the track which will appear on his debut album ‘True’ which was released yesterday in several European countries.

Avicii spoke about working with Lambert saying his vocals were perfect for the track: ”I really fell in love with his voice. He just captured something on that first take.”

Nile Rodgers, who formed 70′s disco band Chic (performing tonight at the iTunes Festival ) also features on ‘Lay Me Down’ and briefly commented also: ”I need someone to do a lead vocal so I call Adam Lambert.”

‘Lay Me Down’ has already been made available online to stream in full before the album is released on September 16th in the UK and September 17th in the US.

The album also features the smash hits ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘You Make Me’ which features vocals from Swedish singer Salem Al Fakir.

Adam Lambert also looks set to make an appearance on hit TV show Glee when it returns for its fifth season.

According to Pop Wrapped Adam will appear in the fourth episode of the show and some are suggesting he will play a drag queen. From the sounds of things Adam Lambert will play Kurt’s (Chris Colfer ) enemy and is likely to perform with Dani who will be played by Demi Lovato

When it comes to what he’ll be singing it sounds like he may be singing Lady Gaga’s ‘Applause’ and Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ but with Glee it’s very possible we could see a mash-up of the two....

‘I definitely paid my dues’: Adam Lambert Remembers His Difficult Path to Fronting Queen

by Something Else!

Some of Adam Lambert’s staunchest fans tend to get defensive when his history in American Idol is mentioned — and not just because he finished second. The implication from detractors is often that Lambert, who’s getting ready for his U.S. debut this month with Queen, didn’t pay his dues.

Far from it, counters Lambert — who worked as a singing waiter at corporate events, in retail and as a Starbucks server while trying to get his start in the music business.
“If you rewind my 20s,” he says during this In Sixty clip, “I definitely paid my dues. I definitely lived a very unglamorous life.”

Lambert was determined, long before he joined a group of Idol contestants often criticized as mere interpreters, to create music that showcased his own narrative voice.

“I was doing a lot of theater stuff, but I was in the ensemble, always,” he adds. “I would never get hired beyond that. I was getting frustrated. I was getting to pay my bills, finally, but I don’t feel like I’m creating something. I had this hunger to make something.”
That continues today, even while he’s established a parallel persona as Queen’s frontman. Lambert, in fact, issued his second album Trespassing — featuring nine of 12 co-written originals — last summer as he took part in a multi-show run with Brian May and Roger Taylor.

B30'S Music Reviews

Avicii's True album debuted on Spotify. You can go take a listen and come back because while you're feeling the aftermath of the album, I will give you my honest opinions on whether this album is truly amazing.

So if you checked out my reviews for the first and second singles, Wake Me Upand You Make Me respectively, you will know I am eagerly awaiting True even though I did not put it in the top 5 of my most anticipated fall albums. It was just too soon, and I'm glad I got to listen to it firsthand before it's release worldwide. Let's get to it.

So the first two tracks are Wake Me Up and You Make Me, easily setting the tone for the album, and just chucks you straight into it. While you may get refreshed from these hits, the album has a lot more to offer than the first two.Just after relishing from the excitement you've had from the second track, comes another Wake Me Up-esque type track in the form of Hey Brother. What this track once again Avicii does so well is blend it together with country, as you can hear from the start, reminiscent to the first single. However, this track also is emotionally steadfast, entirely focused on bridging a gap towards brothers and sisters. Lyrically, the song is constructed to such amazing words and yet, offers the vibe that once again sets you off to dance mayhem just like the first single. I know I'm comparing much, but the similarities are clear and can be heard, with even the synthesizers blaring straight right after the chorus. It's one of the highlights of the track definitely, and is just great from start to finish. Addicted To You is also one of my favourites. You may mistake the singer for Adele, but it really isn't. Audre Mae is the singer, and so smooth and soothing that she sings that it brings another tone for the album. Once again, Avicii's amazing talent sprawls over the track like a net to catch it. It's one I recommend you to listening to, as it's entirely different yet powerful. Mae's vocals soar and eclipses something else entirely, but I wished the song was longer as it could've been transformed into a well-pried single. What's next may surprise everyone, with the longest song on the record, Dear Boy may look to you as a very poignant track and it might feel very dreading. On the contrary, Avicii sets the pace so well that you don't feel bored from the play button. The Danish singer, known as , sets the tone pretty well just like all the other features. Besting evenMae's soaring vocals, the track has everything settled in nicely.

Make no mistake, the whole album has no bad songs. I may not like some, but while most of these tracks may seem repetitive, but the positive point to note is you never get sick and tired of any of the songs on the album. While people are pointing out on Liar Liar and Heart Upon My Sleeve's different renditions of which Avicii played a month back at Tomorrowland, it's no surprise that these two tracks aren't exactly the ones you'd skip as well. Liar Liar has astute vocals while my problem was Spotify's version which didn't include Dan Reynold's ofImagine Dragons on the latter track. With that, I went out to find the song that had it, and man, the song was immediately radioactive (pun intended). The songs otherwise, are great additions while not really accompanying the vibe and tone which has been set before.

Now on to the biggest highlight for me, Lay Me Down. With appearances and contributions from Nile Rodgers (who also helped Daft Punk's Get Lucky and another on their recent album) and Adam Lambert, this was the track I wanted to listen to due to lofty expectations I had set for it. Does it deliver? Hell yes.Avicii's memorable drum beats and Lambert's amazing vocals once again is put in a dish that is so well served that listening to it once is not enough. You never get tired, just like any of the tracks on the album, and Lay Me Down would even top my favourites list off this album alongside Wake Me Up. So viciously offered and magnificently laid that RodgersLambert and Avicii should get even more credit for this track. It's infused very well with house, pop and the ultimate EDM of the album. The breakdown also includes Rodger's signature guitar plays.

Overall, the album is fat with EDM surprises and ferociously driven by highlighting tracks such as Wake Me UpHey BrotherAddicted To YouLay Me Down and Heart On My Sleeve, all of which are the voraciously daring tracks that you should and need to listen to. It's not demanding, as each track is amazing in it's own way. Through genre-mashing and capable assistance, Aviciihas delivered on all directions. While I didn't really comment on the cover of Hope There's Someone and Shame on Me, they certainly are EDM-filled tracks that packs a huge punch as well.

Ratings:
9.5/10 True is Avicii's collection of well-acclaimed hits and amazing tracks. It doesn't disappoint, but rather the anticipation is well worth it. You will love every single track on the album, and Avicii's debut album certainly won't just top charts around the world. It will set off an amazing chain reaction, so go off and tell your friends about this amazing album. Avicii deserves a standing ovation for such glorious work and he has not only just set the pace, but the EDM bar has been raised so much higher. And I'll say it: True is one of this year's best albums for sure.
