FOX AT TCA THURSDAY. IDOL ANNOUNCEMENT? + Avicii & Nile At Charity Event Aug. 19, Hinted Other Special Guests

Avicii to join Nile Rodgers at Martha Clara for dance party benefit show

Legendary musician and producer Nile Rodgers announced today that he and his iconic band Chic will be joined by Swedish DJ sensation Avicii at an event at Martha Clara this August billed AFTEE Nile Rodgers Dance Party. The show will benefit the new non-profit organization All For The East End (AFTEE) , which aims to raise funds to support the more than 1,000 not-for-profits on Long Island’s East End with grants.

Nile Rodgers is best known as one of the founders of the dance band Chic who brought hits like Le Freak (Aw Freak Out!), Everybody Dance and many others. He has worked as a producer with countless musical heavyweights in a wide range of genres from Madonna to David Bowie, Duran Duran and Dianna Ross. More recently, Rodgers co-wrote and played his famous guitar “The Hitmaker” on the new Daft Punk summer anthem “Get Lucky.”

Self taught and only 22 years old, Avicii has already made a name for himself with his inventive electronic music. He recently headlined the Ultra Music Festival with Madonna in Miami and has also completed a $1-million charity tour. He’s currently considered one of the biggest names in all of music.

At a press conference announcing the event, Rodgers said, “Just Avicii and Chic is a good show alone,” but hinted other special guests may be announced soon. “It’s going to be hard to keep some of them off the stage with me because that’s what we do. We’re a community that loves to support each other.”

The event will take place at Martha Clara Vineyard in Riverhead on August 19. Of the setting, Rodgers joked, “I saw this horse standing where the stage will be and I said, “Hey, you’re in my spot.’”

All For the East End (AFTEE) is a new 501(c)(3) non-profit established to raise awareness of the role not-for-profit organizations play across the East End. Working with the Long Island Community Foundation, AFTEE will establish a grant process to bring in new funds and disperse them to the more than 1,000 registered 501(c)(3) organizations on the East End.

Rodgers summed up, “[The event} will be the greatest dance party the East End of Long Island has ever seen. Dance music unites, dance music is happy and [we] will bring all ages to the dance floor. I say this with a huge amount of humility, but we are really good. I guarantee you’re going to be dancing that night.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at aftee.org for $149 per ticket. Organizers announced 1,000 tickets have been reserved for residents of the East End at $50 per ticket.

FOX WILL BE AT THE TELEVISION CRITICS ASSOCIATION ON  THURSDAY, AUG 1,  AND I EXPECT THE AMERICAL IDOL JUDGES TO BE ANNOUNCED

http://tvcritics.org/press-tour-schedule-overview/

"Katy Perry announced the release date and name for her latest album, Prism, in a way only Katy Perry could — by sending a golden 18-wheeler around the streets of LA with “KATY PERRY •  PRISM • 10•22•13″ emblazoned on the side.

Subtle girl.

Miss Perry then asked fans to tweet photos of the tricked out ride, and one of the first to deliver was none other than Perry pal, and one of our favorites, Adam Lambert."

Adam was the first to see the truck and promoted Katy's new album on Twitter immediately.  Why?  Because I think they were together, probably chatting with American Idol folks about their appearance with FOX on Thursday at the TCA, or something American Idol related.

Katy was a guest judge on Idol during auditions a few years ago, and I thought she did a stellar job. She's a hoot!  Her chemistry with Adam would be off the chart, and they're already friendly acquaintances.  I hardly care who else is on the panel as long as Adam's there, hopefully with Katy Perry.

Neil Patrick Harris called into Ryan Seacrest's show today and told him Adam would be perfect as a judge and was begging for it to happen.  Ryan said he can't confirm anything yet, that he was in the discussions regarding choosing the judges, and that the judging panel would be revealed SOON not soon-ish.

Remember, two of the new Idol producers, Den of Thieves, produced Adam's VH1 Divas Live, Dec. 16, and loved him.  How could they not?  They must appreciate all the phenomenal qualities and talents Adam has, that we all know and love, and would be nuts NOT to want him as a judge.

  2. Yup, it bothers me that Katy never once promoted Trespassing, even though she's promoted other artists. Sad. Adam must have a very thick skin.
