Ryan is friends with NeNe Leakes who did skits with Adam on VH1 Divas.  I'm sure Ryan saw them and loved them.  Adam was hilarious and irresistible!  He's a natural comedian!  I bet it was Adam's tryout for Glee, as in, secured the deal in Ryan's mind!

ADAM in SD: "I'm practicing my comedy."

Maybe FOX will want Adam on Glee AND American Idol. It might work, timewise, if they want it to. Adam would be promoting Glee while being a judge just by being there.  I'm sure Glee could accommodate his AI schedule if necessary to please the suits at FOX and to promote Glee.  Glee is worldwide, but US stats were down this year.  By the way, Glee has been renewed for two seasons which is unusual, so FOX is really behind Glee.

And, remember guys, the new producers for American Idol, Den of Thieves, produced Adam's VH1 Divas Live show December 16!  I'm sure they loved/love him!

NEXT TOUR, NEW FRONT ROW!  Lots of "Marry me"s, too!

It's Kismet that Sauli's fall show is also on FOX, in Finland.  The Universe smiles on these boys and the coincidences never stop!

I'm not alone in my thoughts re Idol!

In an interview with MTV, November 2009, Lea Michelle discusses her obsession with Adam Lambert and her desire to have him on the show and sing with him.

Lea Michele on Adam Lambert - "I Want to Sing With Him So Badly"

For weeks, rumors have been circulating that "American Idol" fave Adam Lambertwas in talks to appear on an upcoming episode of "Glee," a pop-culture match seemingly made in glammy, gold lamé heaven.
The whole thing appeared to be legit — especially since it was "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy who was talking about Lambert's cameo in the first place — but somewhere along the way, negotiations must have hit a snag. Lambert shot down the rumors during an appearance last week on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, saying he hadn't "heard anything officially" from the show.

Lea Michele:  "I love Adam Lambert! I want to sing with him so badly," she said. "If they don't let me [sing with him] on the show, I would just in life. I just want to sing with him so badly. He's just such an incredible vocal performer, and I'm such a huge fan.
"I feel like I'd be getting to work out at the gym with the best trainer in the world," she continued. "You want to work out with someone who's ripped and is going to train you well. That's what I think about when I think of Adam Lambert. I just think he's awesome."

@msleamichele: Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he's with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5” YES!

SO SO SOSO happy to announce that Adam Lambert will be joining the cast of Glee for season 5! AHHHHH. Welcome to the team!
Glad to hear you're all excited for Adam Lambert to join the Glee cast! Whats your favourite Adam song?

The Internet is buzzing that American Idol alum Adam Lambert will join season five of TV's Glee. caught up with Glee’s Emmy-nominated starMatthew Morrison and broke the casting news to him.

“Wow,” he exclaimed. “That’s cool news!

Morrison has dueted with such notable Glee guest stars as Kristin Chenoweth , Gwyneth Paltrow, Idina Menzel and Neil Patrick Harris , so we wanted to know which song he'd like to rock out to with the American Idol runner-up.

“One of my favorite songs I got to rock out on was 'Dream On' with Neil Patrick Harris, so an Aerosmith song would be cool,” the recently engaged star told “Coldplay would be really fun; it’s not much of a rock-out song, but 'Paradise' or 'Viva La Vida.'”

Ryan Murphy Tweeted the news today thatAmerican Idol alum Adam Lambert will be joining the cast of Glee for the series fifth season on FOX .No word yet on whether his role will be as a series regular, in a recurring capacity, or as a guest star.
In joining GLEE , Lambert follows in American Idolwinner Jessica Sanchez's footsteps. Sanchez played a recurring role last season as a singer for a rival school group.
FOX's Glee will also feature four new recurring characters this season, including at least three new female recurring characters: "African-American McKinley newbie Ruby, and twentysomethings Julie and Ryan." The fourth character is reportedly a male named Henry, but there are no details about him at this time.
Recently it was reported that Matthew Morrison Chord Overstreet Darren CrissLea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz will all appear as series regulars while Jayma Mays and Dot Marie Jones are expected to make cameo appearances during the season.
The show's Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty),Blake Jenne r (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Unique) have been promoted to series regulars, while series staples Heather Morris Amber Riley Mark Salling , andHarry Shum , Jr. will not return as regulars for the fifth season. Dianna Agron will also depart the series, except for an occasional guest appearance.

The album has gone on to sell more than two million copies and nearly five million singles worldwide.

DEN OF THIEVES PRODUCED ADAM'S VH1 DIVAS DECEMBER 16, 2012, and I'm sure they loved him:

American Idol 2014: Den of Thieves Producers Added to Revamped Season 13

The latest rumor to come out of the American Idol  2014 reboot V 13.0 is that mega producers Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager have been signed on to the show as producers for 19 Entertainment. The pair, who have a production company called Den of Thieves , would join newly hired showrunner Per Blankens, who was previously the producer of Swedish Idol.
The hiring of these two producing heavyweights make total sense when one considers that the ultimate goal is to get Idol back to the ratings juggernaut it once was...or at least close to it. These two have the experience in giving shows total makeovers, as they took over production for MTV Movie Awards last year, beating out The Voice’s Mark Burnett. They have also produced VH1’s “Divas” concert, the CMT Music Awards, and MTV’s Video Music Awards, so their resume is anything but light.
Overseeing it all will be veteran sports producer David Hill, who is another new hire by FOX after chief reality exec Mike Darnell left suddenly in May.
After the firing of Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick, it seems that the producing part of Idol is pretty well fleshed out, but there are still giant question marks when it comes to the judges table.
Keith Urban is the only one left who hasn’t confirmed an exit from the show, so he still may be a possibility for season 13. Jennifer Hudson ’s $4-5 million contract has been hammered out but not executed, as the judge hiring process was put on hold with the reorganization of the producing and executive teams. We also know Kelly Clarkson turned down the role of judge, so it remains to be seen whether the rumor of an all-alum panel will come to fruition. One thing we do know for sure is that lovable and uber professional host Ryan Seacrest will be back, as he was one more year on his contract.

American Idol's Adam Lambert JoiningGlee for Season 5

Adam Lambert
Looks like someone finally got that call fromRyan Murphy !
American Idol Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambertis joining the cast of Glee , series creator Murphy announced on Twitter Wednesday. "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," Murphy tweeted .
Lambert's name has been thrown around as a possible guest star on the Fox musical series since Season 1, when Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that he was considering approaching the Idol finalist. However, "Glambert" dampened fans' hopes when he told Ryan Seacrest the news was "just a rumor. I haven't heard anything officially about that." (Join the club, Lambert! )
It is unknown who Lambert will play on Glee. Maybe the new coach for New Directions' longtime rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline? Or maybe a cool NYADA teacher to offer guidance to Rachel and Kurt? The possibilities are endless!
Lambert is the second Idol finalist to appear on the show. Season 11 runner-upJessica Sanchez recurred for two episodes last season as the powerhouse star of a rival glee club.
Glee's new season premieres on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9/8c on Fox. Are you excited to see Lambert back on the small screen? Who do you think he should play?

Glee is kicking its upcoming fifth season up a notch.
Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy announced Wednesday that American Idol alum Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee.
"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," he announced .
Details of who Lambert will be playing remain unclear. Representatives for studio 20th Century Fox Television and Fox did not immediately have details on whether the role is a series regular, recurring or guest spot.
Lambert becomes the latest American Idol alum to join the Fox musical. Last season, Idol champ Jessica Sanchez had a multiple-episode role on the Ohio-set side of the series, playing a diva singer at a rival glee club.
For the season eight Idol runner-up, the Glee gig marks a dream come true. The singer told The Hollywood Reporter in January 2012 that he feels the scripted singing series is "so cute" and "really paints a picture of what it's like to be an arts kid in high school."
"Glee is really irresistible -- it's charming," he said at the time , noting he'd love to be able to play himself on the series. (Lambert most recently played himself and performed on ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars.)
Lambert's casting marks a welcome injection of star power to Glee. The series will see some of its original cast members -- fan favorites Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. -- take on a reduced role next season. To compensate, the show bumped up to series regulars new additionsMelissa Benoist, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell to series regulars.
Glee has a history of booking big-name guest stars. Sarah Jessica Parker andKate Hudson both had recurring roles during Glee's fourth season as the series split its focus between its Ohio-set high school and New York, where stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer are prominently featured.

Adam Lambert To Join The Cast Of ‘Glee’

July 11th, 2013

July 11th, 2013
Adam Lambert Trevor Project
In what feels like a savvy move for all parties involved, Adam Lambert has been announced to join the cast of Glee. It’s a natural pairing: Lambert’s theatrical style is suited well for the show’s over-the-top productions, and the show can probably benefit from his wattage at this point, especially as ratings have plummeted in recent seasons. (The Season 4 finale was watched by 5.92 million viewers — just about half the viewers who tuned in for the Season 2 premiere, at 11.80 million. Ouch.
The announcement came via the show creator Ryan Murphy‘s Twitter, as he posted:
And Lambert was quick to give it the ol’ RT, adding that he was “so excited.” With a winking emoticon. So that pretty much says it all.
Here’s the good news: The sheer force of the Lambert’s fan army assembled is enough to part seas and move mountains, so pushing Glee back up the Nielsens shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Glamberts, mobilize!

'American Idol' Alum Adam Lambert Joins 'Glee '

Adam Lambert is coming to the fifth season of Fox's "Glee."
Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy broke the news Wednesday on Twitter.
It's unclear whether the role will be a guesting, recurring or regular role on the series. A show representative told TheWrap that there is no additional information on the role at this time.
Lambert's appearance on the show follows fellow "American Idol" alum Jessica Sanchez's appearance on the musical series last season. She appeared on two episodes as Frida Romero, the lead vocalist of the glee club, The Hoosierdaddies.
Lambert, who has been floated by reports, as a possible judge next season on "Idol," arrives to the series during a time of transition.
Recently, it promoted five recurring actors to series regulars. They replace five original cast members who won't be returning for Season 5 (unless they're tapped to guest star).
While Lambert has plenty of on-air experience, he hasn't done a lot of television acting. He has only really done a small part on ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" last season.

This fall, Adam Lambert will take his career in New Directions.
The American Idol runner-up is joining the cast of Fox’s Glee series creator Ryan Murphy announced Wednesday via Twitter.
No details yet on who Lambert will play or where (Lima, New York, someplace else?) his scenes will take place.
This news comes on almost exactly the four-year anniversary of the very first Lambert/Glee rumor, which swirled shortly after he placed second during American Idol‘s eighth season.

In addition to Idol and numerous television appearances, Lambert’s resume includes several theatrical gigs (including the musicals Wicked and The Ten Commandments: The Musical)and a performance in Pretty Little Liars‘ 2012 Halloween episode.

Glee Season 5: American Idol's Adam Lambert Joins the Cast!

July 11, 2013 at 12:14AM EDT by Beth Douglass

Glee is getting a major dose of glam rock for Season 5 . Adam Lambert, the guyliner-clad runner up of American Idol Season 8, will be joining the cast.

Creator Ryan Murphy announced the news on Twitter July 10, writing "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."
Nothing else is known about Adam's role on the show so far, though we did notice that Ryan says he'll be joining the cast. It doesn't sound like this is just some one-time guest spot.

Since Adam is 31, we're willing to guess that he will show up in New York City instead of McKinley High School, though of course we don't really know for sure.He could be a student at NYADA, or one of the actors in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, assuming Rachel (Lea Michele ) gets the part.

There have also been reports that Kurt (Chris Colfer ) will be joining a band in Season 5. Dare we think that Adam's character might also be in give band? And if so, is it possible that he might be a potential new love interest for Kurt? Not exactly the sort of thing Blaine (Darren Criss ) fans want to think about, obviously. Still, it could be a possibility.

News: Adam Lambert joining Glee

Adam Lambert joining GleeSinger will feature in the fifth season of Glee
It has been announced that Adam Lambert  will feature on the upcoming fifth season of the musical show about a group of talented high school kids.
Glee star Lea Michelle is keen to have the American Idol runner-up on board.
"Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he's with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5 (sic)" she posted on Twitter.
The show's creator, Ryan Murphy, was the one to break the good news yesterday.
He let fans in on the development by tweeting about Adam's involvement.
"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall (sic)," he posted.
The singer responded: "I'm so excited!! ;) (sic)"
It's not yet known which character Adam will be playing or how many episodes he will appear in.
The 31-year-old becomes the latest American Idol star to feature on Glee after runner-up of the 11th series, Jessica Sanchez, enjoyed a multiple-episode role on the show.
Adam has previously called Glee "cute" and praised it for showing what it's like to be an arts kid at school.
"Glee is really irresistible - it's charming," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
He also added he'd ideally like to play himself on the show.
In the past, Adam played himself and sang on ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars.
The fifth season of Glee is scheduled to premiere in September.

Ryan Murphy: “American Idol” Favorite Adam Lambert Joining “Glee” Cast

Adam Lambert
Though its fifth season premiere remains months away, “Glee” has spent significant time in the spotlight amid numerous casting updates.
First came the news that long-time cast members like Heather Morris and Mark Salling would not return as regulars for season five. “Glee” matched that story with more upbeat news, noting that four of the season four newscomers were officially promoted to regulars for the upcoming season.
Tuesday’s casting announcement regarding new recurring characters then built to a story Wednesday, in which “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the eighth “American Idol” runner-up will be joining the cast next season.
“I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall,” Tweeted Murphy.
A frequent subject of “Glee” casting rumors, Lambert follows season eleven runner-up Jessica Sanchez in appearing on the show. Implicit in Murphy’s announcement, however, is the notion that Lambert will have a larger role than Sanchez did in the most recent season.

Adam Lambert Will Finally Arrive On Glee Next Season

Glee just got cooler. Maybe not twenty percent cooler, but cooler nonetheless. Adam Lambert will be appearing in the fifth season of the Ryan Murphy hit show. Murphy tweeted “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.
Just what part Lambert will be playing or what his role will be has yet to be announced. In fact, we’re not sure if he will be in the New York or Lima portion of the series. Still, for Lambert, the guest shot on the show is a wish come true.In 2012, he told the Hollywood Reporter that the would love to guest on the show as himself.

Lambert said at the time that
“I think there were murmurs about it. Hopefully, maybe now that I have some new music, I could go on there. I want to just be me. Why do I have to be a fictional character?
Rumors have been swirling about the openly gay rock star appearing on the show since 2009.
For Lea Michele, the chance to duet with Lambert would be too much. She told MTV that “I love Adam Lambert! I want to sing with him so badly. If they don’t let me [sing with him] on the show, I would just in life. I just want to sing with him so badly. He’s just such an incredible vocal performer, and I’m such a huge fan.
It isn’t the first time that Lambert has shown up in a scripted series. He appeared as himself in Pretty Little Liars season 3.
Lambert’s own work for the LGBT Community has paralleled that of Glee’s.Lambert has worked hard trying to push back against anti-LGBT bullying.

Glee’ Goes Glam: Adam Lambert Joins the Cast

By Lyndsey Parker Reality Rocks  – 9 hours ago

Well, this has got to be the best thing that's happened to "Glee" since the original cast covered "Don't Stop Believin'" in Season 1. Or, since, ever.
Adam Lambert has joined the Fox show for Season 5, according to a tweet by the series' creator, Ryan Murphy, that was instantly and enthusiastically RT'd by thousands of fans (and Mr. Glambert himself) on Wednesday night.
Rumors and/or hopes of Adam appearing on "Glee" have circulated practically since he was still on the Fox network, competing on "American Idol." Even "Glee's" star diva, Lea Michele, expressed excitement about the prospect. Way, way back in 2009, shortly after Adam's "Idol" season, the girl known as Rachel Berry raved to Yahoo!:

"I want to sing with Adam Lambert so badly! I think he is so incredibly talented. He's a vocal freak. It's like working out: If you want to work out well, then you want to train with the best…that's how I feel about Adam Lambert. That's my metaphor."
While it's unclear what role Adam will play (bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold-glitter music teacher who marches to the beat of his own drum machine? Kurt's unfathomably fabulous co-worker at Vogue? Tony-winning Broadway star who becomes Rachel's new BFF?), one thing is certain: I will be watching "Glee" again this fall.
Now please excuse me while I start preparing my wishlist of Lea/Adam duets (my personal pick is "Close My Eyes Forever" by Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford...but hey, that's just me).

You don't have to win American Idol for the show to make you famous. Jennifer Hudson has an Oscar. Katharine McPhee got her own TV show, and now season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert will have a starring role on Glee in addition to his consistently sold-out tour.

Yes, Glee creator Ryan Murphy broke the news of Lambert's new gig on Twitter Wednesday night, writing, "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."

The consensus? Excitement:

He was born for this.
And excited they should be. Lambert's perfect for the bright, over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek melodrama of the Fox singing show. Just look at this guy:

Flamboyant costumes? Check.

Flamboyant dance moves? Check.
Flamboyant diva attitude? Check.
Flamboyant pimp coat? Check.

Adam Lambert Is Joining the Cast of Glee

"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," Ryan Murphy tweeted on Wednesday. How's Lambert feelabout coming aboard for season five? "I'm so excited!!" And that's basically all we know — there's no actual announcement detailing the scope of the role or the amount of songs Lambert will belt or anything. The onetime American Idolrunner-up's acting résumé is next to non-existent, but he'll probably be fine.

Adam Lambert joins the cast of Glee!

A match made in heaven
Gleeks and Glamberts probably want to start jumping up and down in excitement right about now - because it's been officially revealed that Adam Lambert has joined the cast of Glee. EEK.
The news was revealed by series co-creator Ryan Murphy on his Twitter account, when he wrote: "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."
adam lambert
Adam also seems to be looking forward to getting his Glee on - because he retweeted the message, and added: "I'm so excited!! ;)". SO ARE WE LAMBO, SO ARE WE.
The announcement should do much to cheer up fans of the Fox show, after it was recently confirmed that four much loved cast members won't be returning for the fifth season, which airs this September in the US.
Yep, it's time to wave a teaful goodbye to Britney (Heather Morris), Mercedes (Amber Riley), Puck (Mark Salling) and Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) because their all-singing, all-dancing, slushy throwing days are officially over. *sob*
Nabbing Adam for a role on the show is quite the coup for producers - he's had an impressive career since finishing second on American Idol in 2009, with highlights including singing live with Queen, and two well recieved solo albums.
It's unclear what type of part A-Lamb will be playing in series 5, and even the rest of the cast haven't been informed as to what storylines he'll be involved in.Lea Michele tweeted: "Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he's with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5."
AGH - are you happy about this news?

‘American Idol’ alum Adam Lambert is joining the cast of ‘Glee’ for next season.

It's such a natural you only wonder why it took so long to happen: Adam Lambertis joining "Glee" this fall.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the rumors in a tweet Thursday, saying, "I am thrilled to announce that the super-talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast."
Neither Murphy nor Lambert provided any immediate further details on his role. The show has had some famous performers do brief guest spots, while others do arcs of varying lengths as a character in the drama.
Since "Glee" remains the primary spotlight on prime-time television for bold and flamboyant musical performances, Lambert is a natural.
He was one of the last "American Idol" contestants to generate widespread buzz when he finished as runner-up in 2009's eighth season of the show.

His flashy style has helped propel his recordings to the top of the charts, and he has remained a prominent media personality. He recently played himself in an episode of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars."
"Glee" has enlisted dozens of guest stars over the years, helping secure its pop culture credibility.
The show has fallen in the ratings from its early phenomenon status. Its season finale this spring drew about 6 million viewers, down from 11 million in its first season.
But it remains an anchor for Fox, which in April took the unusual step of announcing it had been renewed for two more seasons, its fifth and sixth.
The fifth season launches Sept. 19. No word on whether Lambert will be there at the beginning.

Attention Gleeks! Adam Lambert to Join the Cast of ‘Glee

July 10, 2013 By Renee Snyder

It’s a dream come true for Gleeks and Idol fans because Adam Lambert will be joining the cast of Glee according to the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy.Murphy made the surprising announcement Wednesday night on Twitter, stating, “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.” What this means exactly is still unclear, although it seems as though Adam will be a regular on the show, rather than just doing a celebrity guest spot. However, no other information has surfaced yet for clarification.
The idea of Adam appearing on Glee is not new – in fact there has been discussion as far back as 2009. Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that he was considering approaching runner up Adam Lambert about appearing on the show, but obviously that did not happen at the time.
Lambert has not yet commented, but has spoken about Glee in the past. In January, 2012, he told Hollywood Reporter, “When Glee first came out, I was like, ‘I don’t really like this show. But now I watch it… And you know what? I do think the show has an agenda, but I respect the agenda. I think it’s a very brave agenda to try to push. I think that they’re one of the few people that are doing it.So it’s definitely one of a kind and very revolutionary in that way.

Lea Michele posted a photo on Twitter of the cast on set and Darren Criss was missing, raising speculation he might not be a regular this year, but our sources confirm he was not on set simply because he's currently still on his solo tour.
As previously reported, not returning to the show as series regulars are: Amber Riley Dianna Agron (who also wasn't a regular last season), Harry Shum Jr.,Mark Salling  and Heather Morris . Melissa BenoistJacob ArtistBecca TobinBlake Jenner and Alex Newell have been promoted from recurring castmembers to series regulars for season five.
Jayma Mays and Dot Marie Jones are expected to return at some point, per our sources, but will not be series regulars.

Adam Lambert added to cast of 'Glee' season 5 • Hypable

Today Ryan Murphy announced none other than American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert will join Glee this fall.
Ryan Murphy announced Adam Lambert’s addition to the Fox musical comedy via his Twitter account:
Adam Lambert is best known for his incredible vocal styling that got him all the way to the finale of season 8 of American Idol. He was runner-up to Kris Allen. Lambert, who has had notable success with his solo career since leaving Idol was definitely the fan favorite and expected winner of his season of American Idol.Lambert will mark the second American Idol alum to join Glee as season 10 runner-up Jessica Sanchez was featured on episodes of Glee season 4 this past year.
There’s no word on what role Adam Lambert will be filling though we assume it will definitely not be a student at McKinley High. Could he be a teacher (or student teacher) at McKinley? Maybe a college classmate of Rachel and Kurt’s? We could also see him being a bar performer in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Either way Lambert will surely add a flair to the already flamboyant show when it returns to Fox Thursdays at 9/8c starting September 19.
What role would you like to see Adam Lambert play on Glee season 5 this fall?

Adam Lambert
Former American Idol star Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee.
The news was revealed by series co-creator Ryan Murphy on his Twitter account.
He said: "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."
Since finishing as runner-up on American Idol in 2009 the 31-year-old has sung live with Queen and released two solo albums, For Your Entertainment and last year's Trespassing.
His second record went straight to the top of the US Billboard Hot 200, with Lambert becoming the first openly gay artist to top the chart.
The singer toured with Queen after meeting the band on American Idol when Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the show.
It is unclear what role Adam Lambert will have on Glee and whether it will be as a series regular or a guest spot.
Writing on Twitter, cast member Lea Michele said: "Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he's with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5."
The fourth series of Glee was shown on Sky1 with the fifth season starting in September in the US.

What Character Should Adam Lambert Play On “Glee?” Here Are Five Suggestions

by snicks
As we mentioned last night, Adam Lambert is joining Season Five of Glee , but there was no info released about how many episodes or even what role he’ll be playing.
While Ryan Murphy and co. decide what character they want Adam to play, here are five helpful suggestions. TPTB should feel free to use any of these … no charge!
The producers decide to go to the Puck gene pool one more time when it’s revealed that Jake and Noah’s mother had a one-night stand with a door-to-door traveling glitter salesman, and they’re introduced to their brother Peter Puckerman, who’s working as a pickled pepper picker in Poughkeepsie. The season arc will have the Puckermen trying to find their long-lost sister, who sells seashells by the seashore.
Adam plays a reporter going undercover as a nerdy student to investigate America’s Worst High School. His performances of “Hip To Be Square” and the entire Rivers Cuomo songbook help him maintain his cover, but it’s totally blown when he’s caught lip-synching Lana Del Rey in the AV room.
Adam plays a rich European Count who has decided to invest in NYADA. While he’s touring the halls he sees Kurt and is instantly smitten. He takes the fragile Hummell under his wing, and like a demented Henry Higgins, grooms him for life as a royal. Unfortunately, Blaine tries to intercede and is walled up in the Count’s dungeon, but he escapes and uses the experience to wow Broadway in his one-man show The Song and Dance Man in the Iron Mask.
Matt Bomer returns as Blaine’s brother Cooper, and he introduces Blaine and Kurt to his new fiance … Adam! Okay, the real reason why this should happen is because of the historic implications. It would be the first time that the #1, #2, #3, and #4 men on 2013 Hot 100 are in the same place. *Bonus points if they can get #5 Dylan O’Brien to make a cameo.
It’s high time Glee jumped on the vampire bandwagon, and Adam would be perfect for the role. When a subway excavation in NYC unearthes Adam’s coffin, he rises from the dead and seeks out virgin blood. Sadly, he has to settle for Kurt, who’s close enough. After turning him into a mini-vamper, the two of them head back to Lima (after first dispatching some odds & ends in NYC, including that Homeless-Neil-Patrick-Harris-Looking British guy, and Grody Brody), and help Ryan Murphy out by trimming the cast down. Let’s see … New Cast, you’re dead. Well, except for the guys, who can be shirtless minions, and maybe that one bitchy girl, who will be used as a sacrifice for Vampire Queen Santana.

"Glee" continues its Season 5 cast shakeup as the Fox hit has added "American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.
Series creator Ryan Murphy announced the acquisition on Twitter:

TVLine  reports that there is no word yet on who Lambert will play or if his character would appear at McKinley High School or in New York City.
The site also points out that the news comes almost four years to the day after the first rumors of Lambert to "Glee" surfaced after the singer came in second on Season 8 of "American Idol."
Lambert has appeared as himself in numerous reality and talk shows, but he has also starred in musicals Wicked and The Ten Commandments: The Musical, along with a performance in the 2012 Halloween episode of "Pretty Little Liars."
As MStars previously reported , "Glee" will have some new faces at McKinley High next season as the show is reportedly bringing in three recurring cast members.
TVLine's Michael Ausiello reports in this week's "Ask Ausiello " column that the Fox hit is casting three new characters for Season 5:
"Question: Any scoop on what season 5 of Glee will bring? -Alicia

Ausiello: At least three new female recurring characters, including African-American McKinley newbie Ruby, and twentysomethings Julie and Ryan.Interestingly, actresses auditioning for Ryan must be able to sing and play guitar. Potential portrayers of Julie just need to be cute and quirky."
